Hello to all my readers,
I am a lover of Italian food. I am a bit of a foodie and love to try new things and different cuisines. One food I was very much looking forward to when coming to Italy was their famous gelato, which means ice-cream. Let me tell you, the Italian gelato is to die for and leaves a party in your mouth. You will find gelato stalls everywhere in Italy. Cameron and I wanted to try a new flavour every day we were in Italy. We went for the double scoop to try as many flavours as we could. Warning: If you introduce your toddler to gelato, expect a hell of a tantrum when it runs out. Here are our top 10 flavours in no particular order:
We tried this from a gelato shop just outside The Trevi Fountain. It was quite bitter, but I am a lover of dark chocolate and this was probably in my top three choices.
If you are a coffee lover like my husband Cameron, grab this flavour for a hit. You will find this flavour at most gelato stalls.
Not as strong as dark chocolate, but still equally delicious. You can find this flavour at most gelato stalls.
Cookies and Cream
This was a hit with Archer, and unfortunately produced a horrendous tantrum to follow.
This was in my top three and you will find this at most gelato stalls. It will be popular with your kids as well.
Another one for the kids. This one was creamy and delicious from Venice.
My third of my top three. I couldn’t get enough of this flavour.
Who doesn’t like caramel. You can find this everywhere
I got this flavour in Florence from a stall just before the Ponte Vecchio… It had chunks of melon in it and was delicious.
From the same Florence stall, this had lemon rind in it and was really refreshing.
So there you have it. Our top 10 gelato flavours. We really did make the most of it. I have to say I will really miss gelato from Italy!
